629,351 people took part in Veganuary 2022, pledging to try a vegan diet for a month, with 31 days of support emails, useful resources and social media encouragement.

6 months later, how many have stuck to their plant-based pledges?

In a follow-up survey run by Veganuary after their 2022 campaign, 67% of participants said that the challenge helped them to feel more inspired in the kitchen, and 58% felt that it helped them make more sustainable food choices.

80% of people have reduced the amount of animal products in their diets by at least half, and 28% are still eating a fully vegan diet.

Two-thirds of participants who have stuck to their new vegan diet reported health improvements, including more energy, improved mood and better skin.

Commenting on these results, Veganuary’s International Head of Communications, Toni Vernelli, said: “These results show that Veganuary is helping people make lasting diet changes that are good for the planet and their health!”

She added: “Cutting out meat and dairy is the best way to cut our carbon footprint. As an added bonus, two-thirds of participants who stick with a plant-based diet feel health benefits as well. There is simply no downside to signing up for Veganuary!”
