The winter season is here, and that means it’s time to take extra care of ourselves.

We all know we should exercise, eat well, and get enough sleep—but sometimes the cold, dark winter months make it harder to keep up those good self care habits.

That’s why we’re sharing our best wellness tips for staying healthy during the coldest months of the year:

Get some exercise.

Exercise is a great way to stay warm and feel good.

It can help you sleep better, reduce stress, and even prevent depression.

Exercise reduces the level of stress hormones in your body by helping you breathe and relax.

When this happens it gives you more energy for life’s challenges.

Get moving and release those endorphins—even a gentle walk around the block to enjoy the neighbours’ Christmas lights will get those happy hormones flowing.

Fuel up your body.

You’ve heard it before, but eating well is an important part of taking care of yourself.

You need to eat to stay healthy.

But it’s about more than just filling your stomach. It’s about choosing tasty foods that give you energy— foods that will nourish you and make you stronger.

If you don’t fuel up enough (or if the food you’re eating doesn’t contain the right things), your body won’t be able to fight off illness or injury as easily when they come knocking on your door.

Try to enjoy a balance, and load up on vitamins to boost your immunity through the winter months!

Soothe your skin.

Winter isn’t fun for everyone. For those with allergies, sinus issues and other respiratory problems, the dry air in winter can be downright painful.

But there are a few things you can do to help your body cope with the colder months.

Use a humidifier. A humidifier makes sure that your air is as moist as it should be during the winter months—especially important if you have breathing issues like asthma or allergies (or even if you just want to breathe easier).

Use a moisturizer on areas affected by dryness (like your hands). The skin around our hands tends to get extra dry during wintertime, so we recommend using some kind of lotion or cream every day after washing them.

Get crafty.

Find a craft you enjoy. Whether it’s knitting, crocheting, painting or drawing—it doesn’t matter what the craft is as long as it’s relaxing and makes you happy.

You could even make something for someone else. The act of creating will make you feel good, but then so will the look on the face of your recipient when they see what you made them!

Take care of your mental health.

It’s important to take care of your mental health, especially during the winter months.

Plan time for yourself. You might be used to being busy and going five different places in one day, but taking a few minutes here and there throughout the day can do wonders for your energy levels.

Make sure that you have at least one hour every week where all you do is relax as much as possible!

Whether it’s by reading a book or watching TV without any obligations, it’ll allow yourself some time away from work or other responsibilities so that when those responsibilities come back around again later everything’s a bit easier than usual (and maybe even more enjoyable).

Try new activities this winter season—or old ones with new friends! Keeping your routine up-to-date with fun activities helps keep things fresh throughout those cold days and dark evenings when we could all use something interesting happening around us.

Winter may be tough on your body, but there are a lot of easy things you can do to take care of yourself.

Take some time out of your day and make sure to get some exercise, eat right, pamper yourself with a spa treatment or craft project, and keep an eye on your mental health.

These tips will help you feel great all winter long!
